Room at Golden Fleece Available

Good evening. As a result of a number of items I will not be able to attend the RT ride-out planned for 30th / 31st May in Thirsk. I have already booked a room at the Golden Fleece which is non-refundable. However, I have contacted the booking team and they have advised me I can change the occupancy with no charges.

If anyone is interested please PM me with a reasonable offer and we can discuss.

It is:
Superior Double;
Single Occupancy;
2 nights check in Friday 30th May / check out Sunday 1st June
I paid £362.70

Open to reasonable offers but I do understand if all participants have already secured accommodation.

That's bloody exspensive for 2 nights.

They use dynamic pricing structure like premmier inn and some other big chains, after first few booked price went up. Waited till Xmas till priced dropped b4 booking myself. Also that is an upgraded room.

Hi Bob

I do appreciate it may be expensive however I was looking at the advantages of being located closer to the RT group given this was my first outing. I also appreciate I'm likely to lose a chunk of money of this however wanted to offer it up to the group to see if there was any interest. If there's no interest i'll hold the room and see what transpires between now and the 30th May.

No dramas, part of travel and booking ahead these days I guess.

I don't know the area and assumed it was fairly standard given the hotel rating, RT recommendations and it's a holiday weekend. Not a problem, if I lose the monies paid then it's another one of those "we live and we learn even at this age" situations

Just on principle I was going to book elsewhere because I hate big corporations ripping thier customers off, let alone a small independent hotel. Dave had tried to get a preferencial rate b4 any of us booked but they wouldnt play ball. luckily over xmas when they realised no one else booking price dropped to reasonable level but has risen again.

I was looking at the old oak myself and did think at least half price taxi with you but then you cancelled and booked golden fleeece. In fairness fleece looks nicer and so much more convienient although ive only booked cheaper room. Hopefully someone else will join the party and you recoup most of your outlay.

Location, Location, Location.

In Thirsk, a well known hotel chain is twice the price of the same brand elsewhere.

Just for anyone thinking of taking the rooms from LochiesDad

The hotel is very nice (stayed there a couple of weeks ago for the weekend)
The location is great
Private carpark at the rear
Great place to have a walk round

I'm sure any offer for the rooms would be better than no offer.

I thought up north it was cheaper than down here. Can you swap for another date? Saves you by losing your money

Hi Doctor T, Unfortunately I took what I thought was the best deal at the time which was 'non refundable / non changeable' thinking I was 100% sure of going to the meet so minimal risk. I'm not going to stress and there's a lot of time between now and end of May so who knows, things have a way of working out.
