Chigee AIO-5 Play for BMW with 2019 RT
Has anyone successfully installed and used Chigee AIO-5 Play for BMW - with 2019 R1250RT?
The description on their website is quite confusing. I see from several videos and photos on the Internet that the module physically will install in the NAV slot (I currently have NAV VI installed there) - but it is not clear if it will work with Wonderwheel or not?
Has anyone?

Re: Chigee AIO-5 Play for BMW with 2019 RT
I got my AIO-5 Play unit for BMW today.
Following things work well with my 2019 R1250RT.
The unit fits in the NAV slot (where I had my Motorrad Navigator VI) installed.
The unit powers on automatically when I turn on the bike, and turns off 10 seconds after I turn the bike off.
The unit can read all the data from my bike, tire pressure, fuel level, rpm, engine temp, several other stats.
Installation was as easy as it can get. I popped out my Motorrad Navigator VI, and put the AIO-5 Play. It fits just right and you cannot tell without carefully inspecting that this is not the Navigator VI.
After powering on for the first time the device asked me to connect to WiFi (I have very good WiFi signal in the garage), which I did. The unit activated itself in a minute or so and then it prompted to update itself, which it did and rebooted.
Then I paired my iPhone with the unit and the Apple CarPlay just worked without any fiddling needed. I just followed the prompts on my phone and the unit. I also have a second phone (Android) - which was also easy to setup for Android Auto.
As recommended I kept my phone paired with my Cardo unit and Apple Music, navigation audio prompts, Siri all work seamlessly with audio and mic from my Cardo unit and the display on the AIO-5 unit. I have a very good (Peak Design Qi 2) phone mount with wireless charging installed on the handlebar. So I am going to continue using it.
What doesn't work?
The Wonderwheel does not work at all. I could not figure out how to use it.
When I ride, I don't fiddle with my gadgets much - besides turning on/off heated grips or heated seats. I use Siri for all other things as much as possible. So the Wonderwheel functionality is not that critical for me.
As far as first impressions go - I have absolutely no complaints. If things go well I might just drop upgrading my RT to newer (2024) model with the large TFT screen altogether. The adaptive cruise control is a nice feature to have - but most of my riding is on smaller roads so it's not a must have for me.

Yes. That's what I've found too.
For the RT models without TFT panels - I need to install a separate "remote control" that plugs into the CAN bus - Chigee CGRC CAN (https://www.chigee.com/collections/acce ... remote-bmw) - 8pin version.
It's just $100 + tax - and amazon has a 15% coupon right now, so I've ordered one - just out of curiosity - will report back how it goes.

Re: Chigee AIO-5 Play for BMW with 2019 RT
I was able to successfully install the CGRC CAN with 8pin DWA connector
The connector is located close to the tail light.
So you need to remove the top cover with BMW logo
Then remove the handles so you can access the connector
I was able to reach the connector and unplug existing connector and install the CGRC CAN.
If you can't reach you'll have to remove another cover (very tricky).

Re: Chigee AIO-5 Play for BMW with 2019 RT
Hey Guys,
I just bought a 2019 and love the bike enough to be “that guy” driving north of Boston in 30 degree march days.
My last BMW was a GS 1300 in 2009? Anyway, back in the BMW world and need a nav (badly). I thought this would be easy, expensive but easy. I start looking, oh no, please God, no No! Why is this so hard! I bought a connected ride last night and then read that it isn’t compatible. Is that even possible. Please help, thanks!

Re: Chigee AIO-5 Play for BMW with 2019 RT
Assuming your RT has the Nav Prep already installed - AIO-5 Play for BMW just fits right in the same NAV slot. If you're OK with using the AIO with touch controls alone then you don't need complicated install. The CGRC CAN is only needed if you want to control the NAV using wonderwheel.

Re: Chigee AIO-5 Play for BMW with 2019 RT
Thank you. I will start with the unit alone and then
Depending on how others feel about the interference
With the bikes controls I’ll decide from there.
Two questions
Can the audio from the navigator (music, directions)
be directed to the bikes speakers and not the helmet?
Has anyone mounted the remote controller on a
RT?
Thanks!
Peter

Re: Chigee AIO-5 Play for BMW with 2019 RT
Audio from AIO-5 cannot be redirected to bike speakers via the NAV connector. See below for options.
I connect my Cardo Packtalk Bold to Phone and AIO-5 to the Phone and then use Siri for controlling most things
- make calls
- navigate to new destination
- add stop
- search for nearest gas station
- play music on Apple Music or Spotify
Cardo has its own voice commands so I can also switch to FM radio, Play/Pause music, Answer calls
- so very rarely use the wonderwheel or remote.
I installed the CGRC CAN bluetooth module which connects into DWA connector, then pairs with the AIO via Bluetooth, and allows you to use wonderwheel. So I didn't bother with the remote control.
Here's something to try:
While I have not used this configuration here's an idea (and it's cheap to try) to redirect audio Chigee AIO-5 to RT speakers:
Get this "Bluetooth 5.0 Car Adapter, BAVNCO Mini Stereo Transmitter Receiver Wireless 3.5mm" from Amazon - It's under $10.
In the right side cubby in front there is a USB charger and Aux Audio connector. Connect the unit in USB port (for power) and use 3.5mm audio jack from the unit to Aux audio. Put the BAVNCO module in receiver mode and then pair it with AIO-5.
