I just brought one as i'm down to a couple of mil on the rear.

As a matter of interest I've just ordered a replacement pair of 6GT for fitting next week as the current pair are down to about 2mm. At the moment I'm at about 9,500miles on them and even allow for the projected sunny weather this weekend it's unlikely that I'll quite make it to 10k by Tuesday, but I don't think almost 10k out of them is too bad considering a 1250Rt is a big old bird with over 130hp on tap.

Where do you get them fitted if you don't do it yourself, I'm thinking of replacing the Battlax 023's that were on my bike when I bought it? Sticky Stuff in Telford charge £70 for ride in/out or £35 for a pair loose wheels.

I've long since given up fitting tyres myself and as my right wrist is currently strapped up, I'm not up to removing the wheels either.

Joe Porter fitted the last lot, but I've gone to Stick Stuff this time because if you buy through an official Michelin dealer (which SS are) you can currently claim a £30 rebate from Michelin which pays for almost half of the ride in fitting cost. Sticky Stuff do have some good deals on some older tyres types at the moment, but as I got 10,000 miles out of the last pair of 6GT I consider the extra cost pays for the extra milage, plus I get a modern tyre with one of the best reputations going.

I fancy some of these tyres, my existing 5GTs have been good, and I've got about 2mm on the front and 3mm on the back at 6500 miles, so I'll be swapping them in a couple of months before I do a Europe trip as it's going to be around the 3,000+ mile ish mark, and there is no way they will be fit for purpose on the way back.

As for fitting costs, I'm in a new place now, but my last dealer done it for £20 back and £10 front as long as he supplied the tyres, and he was pretty keen in price, so I always used him

I have a set of 6GT’s (from Two Tyres), new discs, and pads sat in the garage ready for fitting before our annual Greek pilgrimage in May.

It’s always nice having new rubber isn’t it?

I went straight from 4GTs to 6GTs so I can't compare directly, but for my (boring) style of riding I honestly couldn't feel the difference between 4s and 6s, but the 6s did an extra 3,000 miles over the 4s and if I got better grip as part of that, that'll do me.

Sticky Stuff charge £20 to fit to a loose wheel or £35 a pair so your previous dealers £30 is on the better side of par for the course.
