So today i thought bugger it. I taxed both the RT and the XJ6F.
The weather is nice this week and the salt has gone so we will be out this week on them.
Was out on the Varadero today and it was a nice morning out.

Yesterday, rain forecast, I rode the back north hills of San Diego County. It was the best therapy a guy could have.... And it didn't rain!

"taxed" as a yank, I'm not familiar with this term...beyond its strict meaning.

It's actually called Vehicle Excise Duty, it's a tax currently based on CO2 emissions. Road Tax was abolished in the 1920/30's by Winston Churchill and Neville Chamberlain but the term is still in wide use.

Similar to what you'd call DMV's 'Vehicle Registration Fee'. It used to be a quite simple system, essentially the larger the cc of the engine, the more you paid. As Glenn said, nowadays it's based on emissions, the more polluting the vehicle the more you pay and everything is everything is done online.

Here in Tennessee it's a "Wheel Tax". Two wheels is $46, four wheels is $64. No tax if you don't ride on-road. I think that there is a surcharge for electric vehicles since they do not pay for the roads with the gasoline tax.

In Ireland, there is no Road Tax, but Motor Tax. I've paid €88 for the year on my 1200RT.

In the UK we pay a fee for our road tax. The larger the CC the more you pay.. We have to pay 6 months or yearly. A full year is slightly cheaper than 6 months. We can also pay monthly via standing order, so you can spread the cost.
Road Tax is meant to be for repairing the road surfaces. Well that's what they told us years ago when the government brought the system in. This they use it all for beer these days as no one repairs the roads

Yep. Supposed to be the same here. I had a local politician actually admit that they want the Nashville highways to be bad so that more people would vote for a light rail system. Rail may work in Europe with the higher population densities and closer destinations. Here, it is just a politicians dream as it's the graft that keeps on giving!
