Rear Mudguard Badge?

Just below the screw for the mudguard adjustment there's a moulded rectangle with a hole at either end, which looks like it may be intended for something to be attached there. Given that from behind there's nothing visible that shows it's a BMW, I'm wondering if it is pethaps intended to take a BMW Badge.
Does anyone know if this is the case, or otherwise what it's for?
If it is fir a badge, I think I'm going to need to find one to put there.🤔

BMW offer a rear fog light kit for their bikes and it's probably law somewhere that they're fitted as standard. Ditto if the law demands an additional reflector. The illustration below doesn't show how the fog light is fitted, but if you are going to fit one the bottom of the mudflap is the obvious spot. Given that I suspect it's case for BMW that it's easier to make a univeral mudguard than to make a separate one for the markets that say you've got to have a fog light or extra reflector as standard equipment, hence the moulding.

Ref, a BMW badge, yes it's been done.

I believe that the rear mudguard has an extension which slides up or down to stop the crud from flying up on the topbox or passenger.
I did have a BMW that had this extension but some people remove them.
