Powering iPhone using Aux Port

Bought a gizmo to plug into the "Hella" auxiliary power port on my 2011 RT. On brief review it seemed to work fine, but on a two hour run to do some camping prior to our USA July 4 holiday it proved entirely unreliable, the phone indicating charge on then off over and over. Later use of the same cord and a battery pack showed that the USB to Lightning cable is fine.
The Hella port gizmo shows the bike's level of charge, though the numbers didn't seem to make sense rolling down the road, though I couldn't make a lengthy examination as I was, y'know, driving. The gizmo also seemed to shut itself off. I got one that includes an "off" button to protect the battery, but in practice I just remove the thing when the bike is parked anyway.
Need a new and better plug-in gizmo? Will this port not power an iPhone on the road in any event?
Long term, I hope to wire a power source into the harness at the proper place, but that's a project for the future me who takes the fairing bits off....
Thoughts welcome,
Ed C

I removed the DIN socket and replaced it with a 2xUSB socket. My GPS is hardwired, but I use the USB ports for my phone and action camera when needed.
I had a plug like yours to start with and found it unreliable unless I was at a standstill. They move slightly when traveling, and the connection cuts out.

Guess I look up how to replace the plug as you have done. Your assessment matches mine. Thanks!

Mine are just cheap ebay ones. Works well even in heavy rain. Think I paid less than £10 gbp

Thanks for this.
From what I can see online, there are inexpensive 20-30 bucks) double USB-A replacement ports and more expensive One USB-A and one USB-C replacement ports, roughly 75 bucks USA money from various retailers or on ebay 44 bucks. I don't see any double USB-C port versions. . . .

You might check Amazon for multiple USB-c sockets, but they all seem to include an A socket. And they are all pretty cheap.
