Just got here!

Hello to all. I now own a 2024 R1250RT (premium package) that I have wanted for years. Had to drive 175 miles to get it, but it was a 2024 with only SIX miles on it. SIX!
I thought it was stolen at first but no. Paid 21k for it. I thought I got a good deal. It is immaculate. Only one key though. The dealer wants $541.00 to have a copy made. Why?

Thanks. I'm over in Brookshire.
So new they only supply one key? Great.
I like to have spares, guess I'll do like the old gas stations and chain it to a cinder block. Or this...

I keep mine on a retractable keychain. I have tried several companies that say that they make keys for any car. When I asked for a BMW MC key, they just say that they can't make MC keys. Did you get the plastic emergency key? You can hide it on the bike for that possible emergency. At least it will get you home.
Brookshire is the gateway to some mighty good riding.

You can buy a ready cut key (non-remote) for your panniers for about £25-£30 from BMW. The remote ready cut key here in the UK was about £230, that equates to around $312… I can only suppose that the increased cost may be due to some sort of import tax?
I was recently given a BMW remote key from another bike, the key part of it will be useless but hopefully I can get it reprogrammed to my bike, then I have a spare.

Yeah, maybe a tariff. Here in America, it all about maximum retail and taking home the big paycheck,
once. I had wanted to get a plain non-electronic key cut for my new Toyota Camry and the local locksmith wanted 87.00 for it. He said the machine to cut it was 3,000. Told him I didn't want to own shares in the machine so I left, never to return. Good will and return business? What's that?
Anyway, thanks for the info, I shall scour the internets for a better deal. I'm good at that.

I'm happy, still sitting at six miles though as I went on a vacation to West Texas for a week and now I'm doing a full suspension on a Honda Grom. And it's rained every day here. Plus life got in the way.

Haha yep. The only thing is small scuffs on both heads, very small. No other damage whatsoever. I guess the person that bought it new didn't test ride it, took it home and tipped it twice in his driveway and said nope, gotta sell it now. Well, he took a bath for sure. Must have sold it for at least 9k under original sale price. I'd like to thank that fiscally unaware man.
