Turning 60 next month, I bought a 2021 R1250RT Sport LE 8 weeks ago with 699 miles on the Clock, it now has 3480 miles after a sunny tour of Scotland the day after I picked it up and a sunny tour in North Wales last week. Its the first flat twin I've owned since my R60/6 40 years ago. Ive had an FJR1300 for the last 6 years and made an impulsive decision to buy the RT when I saw it advertised at Sytner Motorrad in Warwick. I haven't looked back, fabulous bike, so quick to tip in the bends and huge torque. I've overcome the 'small' phone cubby hole issue and satnav by using a second phone, an android Samsung S20 which my IT technician son has automated and configured so that I just press one button and it connects to the bike and launches everything required. Works great.
I find the Mich Pilot Road 5 GTs produce a hard ride, I used to run the FJR on BT023 std tyre which worked OK, some research to be done here. .
Overall a great bike, compared to the Yam, what do I like:
The screen is much better, really quiet when it's right up.
The ACC is also great, the gadget that you don't know you need until you have it.
Handling is much lighter, tips into bends and changes direction so quickly.
The list goes on but you aren't comparing apples with apples ofcourse.
Headlight, TFT screen, light clutch, quickshifter - (depending on how you use it) all great features.
Looking forward to another tour next month. I was quite pleased to see the RT achieved better miles per gallon than mates riding 1250 GS's
