After jump starting my bike yesterday, it turned out to be a big mistake. Wearing a full mesh jacket with a vest underneath, and a pair of Oxford air trousers, i thought i would be nice and cool. After returning 1 hour later, my helmet was as wet as id poured a bottle of water in it. My boxers and socks were like i was in the shower. Soaking from the waist down.
Even with the screen down at 70+, all i received was blasts of hot air. Yesterday was the day i wished i owned a naked bike and an open faced helmet.

Today drove the car to Portsmouth Hospital and back, and it was fantastic. Air con on was pure luxury. Outside it was 31 @ 9.45 am

An English fella pulled into the hotel an hour ago,on a motorbike,looked pretty much as your description Doc.Glad I'm in me van with aircon.

That's the reason I got a 1250R! Most of my riding is done in nice weather if the weather is crap I take the RT. We'll be on the way to the Pico's in two weeks time and I'll be doing most of the journey with the MRA Vario to keep the wind blast at bay and then swap over to the sports screen once we get there.

It has been pretty warm, I’ve had the last 3 days out on the bike.

Sunday I had to go across to Southampton but didn’t fancy the motorway so set the satnav for no motorway and winding roads. By Gods it delivered.. I spent 2 hrs crawling around loads of tiny back lanes with grass growing up the middle and lots of loose gravel, mostly in 1st and 2nd gear praying nothing would come the other way.

Monday was a coffee and cake outing with my wife, a nice way to spend a day.

Today was a dentist appointment in Ashtead, Surrey. Not a bad journey but too much traffic and waiting at the obligatory road works left us a bit too warm.

Tomorrow I pay for my sins, I’m painting the downstairs loo. And our kit needs a definite rinse through after the sweating and dust.

Tonight I’m planning a 10 day escape to Germany in September

Ironically, as I bought my RT as a winter hack, I took it to West Cork last summer instead of my Buell. Very nice it was too as the weather was not great.
This year I'll be watching the weather forecast closely as I'm using the unfaired Buell as my daily again at the moment.

I'm looking for a naked R1250 at the moment. Had a test ride, but there was a problem with a big misfire when warmed up. It's from a main dealer, so they won't sell it until it's fixed. Promised to call me in for another test drive once they sort it out

I was out on Wednesday and according to Met Office / the temperature on my RT the temperature hit 32c and bizarre as it seems I had the full Merino set under my mesh jacket/trousers, and you know what I was very comfortable. Air went through the mesh, the merino wicked the sweat away and it just worked. Okay, as it got dark I had to put on a windproof vest underneath, but certainly natural materials helped behind the enormous screen & fairing the RT has. What I couldn't get enough air to was my helmet/head.

EDIT: One other thing I'll add was I was out for about 8hrs in the sun that day, plus a couple after dark (and it was still 25c at 11 o'clock) and whilst the aforemention mesh/merino stuff did it's job, what you don't realise is just how much liquid you body is getting through to do that. I'd taken a litre & half with me, propably drunk another litre when I got to where I was going, but on the way back when I filled the bike up a 1 litre bottle of water waved at me from the fridges. I drank about three quaters of it in one hit, then thought sod it and drank the rest before I put my helmet back on. Keep hydrated folks.

My helmet is still damp from yesterday. Ive had to take it out to dry
