ECU swap and EWS code

I recently had to replace the ECU to another 2:hand unit. The new pre-owned ECU has all the same markings and codes, production date is a few months apart to the original unit. Thr problem I have is that when I try to start the bike I get an ”EWS”- code in the display. I guess it is the immobilizer that is activated. My question is: is it possible to get the replacement ECU working with my bike and how? What tools are required? Can I just disable the immobilizer as an alternative workaround? Please comment. The bike is a 2005 R1200RT

I suspect the two will need to be tied together!

A lot of vehicles this can't be done to second hand units but there is specialist people out there that can usually help
