I thought some members might be interested in this..
Recently purchased and fitted a 1080P DVR from AliExpress to my 1250RT (front and rear cameras). Used a quick connect cable for the live pick up from the rear socket (easy plug in) and a bracket slightly modified for the front camera. I suspect if you used a more expensive camera then it would probably just fit the bracket. In the end I drilled two extra holes in the front bracket to suit. Ran live and negative straight to battery. See attached images. Seems to work very well.

I'm looking to fit a set of cameras to my 22 R1250RT also.

I'm not sure how it will work in practise, I want it to start/stop when I turn the ignition on/off with the bike, so am a little confused when you say your running a cable direct to the battery? Can you explain the set up a bit more please - sorry I'm not more tec savvy, but this should be well within my grasp

There are three wires from the DVR, live and neutral connected to the battery and a switched live connected to the accessory socket, so the DVR only works when the bike is running or it comes on if it detects movement when parked. It’s useful to point out that the accessory sockets on the RT remain on for around two minutes following the ignition being switched off.

Further comment.. the switched live is what turns on and off the DVR. The constant battery connection is to detect movement and only engages when the bike is moved or knocked when parked.

I have the viofo motorcycle dashcam and its a similar set up

Although I have mine wired to a ezcan and the permanent live turns off after 30 seconds the switched signal is instant off

This allows the cameras to shut down and stop recording properly before cutting all power

I don't use the movement feature on mine

If you get the chance, any possibility you could take a snap shot of the wires as I'm not sure which are which? I'm guessing by this you don't have to mess with the can bus system?

First image is the installation instructions that came with the DVR.
Second image is the wires from the DVR. Yellow to battery positive, black to battery negative and red to switched live (picked up from the additional lead plugged into the back of the accessory socket. The lead I purchased connected to the rear accessory socket and has two wires extending from this to a BMW plug so I removed the plug at the tail end and have connected the live wire out of the two (ground and live) to the red wire on the DVR. You don't need the earth connection on this wire because it's taken care of with the battery connection.
Third image is general layout under seat. Top left is the DVR zip tied to the frame, bottom is the wire from the rear camera because you get a lot of wire and the camera plugs are connectors (you can see the red connector (power) and the green connector (camera) in the image here. There are three solid connectors for the cameras and the live/negative feeds so they are easy to fit. I ran the switched live from the rear accessory socket, but you could do the front accessory socket if preferred.

I've just ordered the same as you have minus the mounting bracket as I'll see if I can mount it directly to the bike or see what I have in the shed as I have a few brackets spare from other projects in the past.

Its going to be a couple of weeks coming, so probably beginning to mid October when I get it fitted.

Thanks again, this was cheaper than I was looking for and worth a punt to see how it goes

Just some pics for information. The cameras and mounting brackets are different from those shown on the web page. I’ve managed to attach one to a GoPro mount for the front, will work on the back one later.
