Old rider, another BMW, new member

Post by docsabre »

73 year old rider here. Riding since age 14. I’ve owned approximately 35 bikes, 5 of them BMWs. My first was a Funduro 650. Then a new 2013 R1200GS LC that I still ride. Then a 1976 R90/6 I had for 10 years. I bought a 1995 R1100GS in 2017 and shipped it to Germany where it still remains. I’ve used it for 6 one month long rides through most of Central Europe, southern Europe, southeastern Europe and Scandinavia .
I currently have 6 bikes in my garage in Southern California and a 2004 Suzuki VStrom 650 in the Nashville area for rides on the east coast. The current SoCal bikes are 2013 R1200GS, 2018 R1200RT, 2009 Vespa GTS250ie, 1995 Honda CB750, 2013 Honda CRF250L, and a 2000 Honda VT1100C2 Shadow Sabre.

I have ridden to Alaska and back twice and across the US 5 times, up and down both coasts several times, and ridden in 33 countries on 4 continents.
I enjoy touring by motorcycle and always camp when touring. I fee like I’ve perfected my ability to be comfortable and always prepared for whatever challenges camping presents.

Anyhow, I got a killer deal on a 2018 R1200RT in October and began adding mods to make it personal. It was a spotless 2018 with 17k miles, new tires, for $8200. The seller threw in a top case from his 20012 RT that I painted to match my white RT.

Is it considered adultery to say I enjoy riding the R1200RT more than any of my other bikes?

I wish my 2018 RT was as clean and shiny as yours.

Great stable of bikes. Salute to your motorcycle adventures sir. I have the RT and it is my favorite of the five I have now. Each one has its role.
