I've always fitted Bagster tank covers on my bikes, and I've just bought one for my 2019 R1250RT.

I've just fitted it. I had no problems locating where the rearmost straps had to fit, or the middle ones or the one that goes round the headstock, but there are two forward facing fixings at the front of the cover, with very long straps, & I can't for the life of me figure out where they are supposed to go. To be honest, they seem somewhat superfluous as the cover fits nice and flat without them, and seems secure enough.

The bag arrived with no fitting instructions & I can't find anything on the Bagster site, Youtube or the internet in general.

Has anyone here fitted a Bagster tank cover to their bike?

Panman40 has the same bike as you and fitted a Baglux tank cover to it. I’ve alerted him to your post.

Hi Tom,
If you’ve not sorted those straps already took off the front side panels and fed the straps through to a convenient torx bolt, I made a hole in the strap and secured it that way under a little tension, once fixed in place I cut off the excess strap.
If I get chance later today I will pop off a fairing and take a picture if you need one. It’s been a while since I removed that panel though!.

As Panman said,if they are the same as the Bagster for the 16 plate 1200.The long straps feed through the tiny gap in the panels to the inner panel.Down past the rads,find a convenient bolt,make a hole and fix it in(hope that makes sense)

Thanks both. Seems to be a lot of trouble to go to though?

I took the bike out for a short run yesterday, maybe 20 miles or so, and there was no discernible movement on the Bagster without the long straps being fitted.

Tempted to leave it as is, but on the other hand, I have this little ear worm nagging away at me that says they're there for a purpose.

A picture would be very helpful, Martin, if you can be bothered.

Just for info, these are the fixings that I haven't connected the straps to. As you can see, the tank bag is laying flat and seems secure enough?

The straps are each about 2' 6" long.

Hi, I’m sorry I haven’t gotten around to taking tge panel off yet, unexpected errands and chores, I just took a quick snap of where I fed the strap though, if you pop the side panel off there’s a couple of torx fixing points .

Thanks for the photo, Martin - most helpful - at least I can now see exactly what you were talking about.

I've never taken those panels off before, I will have a go as soon as I can.

It’s been a while since I’ve taken one off, it’s a fairly quick job but there’s some Velcro plus 2 tiny tabs along the top you need to take care not to break, if you do a quick google I’m sure there’s a few videos that will show you.

I managed to feed the straps through without taking the side panels off.They come out either side of the horn(if I remember correctly) once you have them through you can coax them into place by pulling either end and working it into position.Don't bust them tabs,it's a pain replacing them,ask me how I know

That sounds brilliant. I'm not noted for finesse. I'm more of a "Bollocks - hit it with a hammer" kinda bloke.

I suffer with ocd so I had to find the best possible place to fix those straps
