So I’m just doing my service on my 2015 1200rt. Normally I’d pay a garage but it’s all stuff I can do myself. Obviously I’m getting more up close and personal than I normally would with it.
And I’ve spotted something I’d not noticed before a small perfectly round hole on the right hand side of the engine.
Like I say, never spotted it before and it’s been running fine since I got it 18 months ago. It’s also been to BMW for a major service (which hurt the bank!) and a local garage for a minor service whilst I’ve had it.
Just wondering if anyone knows what it is or what it’s for???
Is this normal???

Re: Is this normal???
Yes it's normal. It's a 'weep hole' for the coolant. The water pump is behind the front engine cover.
If the pump develops a leak, you'll see a blue crystalline sludge dribbling out. Very early LC's sometimes leaked, but the water pump seals were improved on later bikes. The early-version seals sometimes 'bedded-in' and self-sealed anyway. Don't worry about it!

Pheeew!
Okay, I’ll go and tell my wallet to stop worrying. Honestly expected a huge bill there.
Cheers bud.
