Think he means filtering while cornering. More than a god.

No but I ride across the centre of Manchester every day and sometimes I need to make tight turns between stationary vehicles and lean combined with the tighter circumference of the rear means its a bit close. ( Think blocked junctions and roundabouts) Plus its easier to get the bike out of the garage in a morning. I have to fold the mirrors or move one of the cars. With the full size panniers I had to remove them and they are a pain to take on and off.
The RT is just a little wider than the Sprint GT I had before.
Richardb Yes the central locking still works that is in the case not the lid.

I only put my panniers on when I'm touring. Otherwise, they stay in the loft.

Touch down points in a stand still drop without them is a third way up the end can (550.00) and the end of the drive shaft just under the hole in the middle. (Cost, eye watering)

The cost is irrelevant - I don't drop it.

I know. None of us ever do.
I just happen to have hiding in the attic an unused end can for a 2005 to 9 if anybody has though.

What??? You're happy to be seen in public on an RT without panniers. Hope you wear a mask!

Add me to the list of folks who only put them on when absolutely needed.
I have a tail bag for back and forth to work.

BMW spend years designing panniers that make the bike look better with them than without and then they end up in the attic. Shame.

I leave the panniers on my bike all the time and filter regularly without any problems. The slim panniers would be nice and it's a shame BMW don't make a slim top opening city pannier which mounts using the same points as the normal panniers. I was working in London last week and had no issues filtering through most of the traffic

Not an opinion. I share. I think the bike looks better without.

Somebody has to be in the minority or it would be a boring world.

Don't want to spread gloom, but. With those bars and no panniers in any drop the bike will tip backwards over the bars and damage everything behind the pillion footrests.
