Is a rear mudguard extender worth having or just an ornament and somewhere to put a GB sticker,

(Interesting, this Camhead has city lids fitted to the side cases).

The Wethead & Shifthead RT mudguard extenders look like a well kept secret,

not even mentioned in the Rider's Manual.
However, they do seem to have a practical function in helping to keep the panniers, top case and fender cleaner than without,
or,
just the job for that nationality sticker.

Worth having, it keeps a lot of crap off the back of the top box area. I made a mud flap/extender out of an old recycle bin lid which works well also.

On the Camhead or Hexhead, the mudguard extender is designed to be adjustable.
This photo shows the extender pulled down 1 or 2 notches.
IMO, when fully deployed, they look a bit naff, although do have a practical purpose.
Does anyone bother to adjust the amount of extention depending on the weather/road conditions.

I just leave mind extended fully, all of the time. Anything that keeps the muck off (or reduces it) is a good thing, in my book. It only goes back up, when the rear wheel needs to come out.
Stay safe,
