Re: Survey of RT mileages
My '13RT now has 100,017 miles. I've owned it since new and have done all the maintenance on it. It's only been back to the dealer once and that was for the fuel pump replacement recall. I usually trade or sell my bikes around 70 or 80 thousand miles but this bike just does everything too well to ...

Re: Beemer Boneyard windshield upper swing arms
Here's something else I found that may contribute to those windshield arms breaking. I change my windshield from the oem (summer) to my larger CeeBailey"s (winter) in the Fall. Every other year or so I remove the pins that hold the windshield brackets and lube them. The last time I did this one of ...

Re: Auxillary Lights
The easiest and cheapest way to go is a with a relay. Control the relay with an on/off switch or by tapping into the low beam's 12V power. Feed the aux lights directly from the battery via the relay. The canbus does not even notice the very small mA draw of the relays coil. Just so you know, if you ...

Re: Top box lock
If you have a bad wafer for one of your key slots you can just leave it out and the lock will still work fine. I did that on one of my top boxes with no problems at all.

Re: What’s the lightest modular and full face helmet ?
I know I'm late to this thread but I too had problems with my helmet causing neck and upper back pain. I have a Neotec II and while it is heavy I didn't have any neck problems with for the first few years of ownership. The neck pain is something that has gotten worse over the last year, not ...

Re: Tank bags: can one off a K1200 be made to fit an RT?
I went a different route. I bought a small magnetic tank bag on Amazon and cut the wings with magnets off. I installed custom bungee cords I made up(also from Amazon) to the front and rear of the tank bag. The hooks on the bungee cords hook into the slots on the tank and hold the tank bag securely ...

Re: Later version of the RT
I have a '13RT that I bought new and with 93K it's still going strong. I do all my own maintenance and it's proven to be an easy bike to work on and very reliable. While the '13RT was the last of the air/oil cooled the camhead engine was not discontinued and has lived on in the RnineT and know in ...

Re: Duration of RT Ownership
I've owned my '13 RT since Feb 2014, bought it new. It's got 91,000mi on it now and does just about everything perfect for me. I may move up to an RTW after I reach 100K next year but I'm a little reluctant when everything on the camhead is so good and reliable. I've been riding since 1965 and have ...

Re: Replace Antenna Base
Remove the right turn signal and you should be able to reach and hold the cable connector and turn the antenna off. You may have to remove the painted mirror trim piece you give you enough room to turn the antenna base.

It's called a fork protection plate. I found it on Max BMW's parts fiche.
