Re: Horn for 2014 RTP
From what I have heard, the dealer needs to program the bike so that the civilian horn is activated when the horn button is pressed. I have heard that this requires the bike be programmed as a civilian model instead of an authorities model.

Re: Horn for 2014 RTP
My bike is a 2014 R1200RTP Camhead, NOT LC! It had all of the police equipment removed except the side cases, radio box, and front and rear guards. The wiring was just snipped where the police lights and sirens previously resided. The left grip has a horn button, which does not work. And, there is ...

Re: Optimate 4 Premium use
I have the Optimate 4 can bus edition. I recall when I bought it, I had to configure it for Canbus mode. I had to short the alligator clips in some procedure to set the mode. Not sure about the Premium model. On mine, it takes 0-2 seconds for the bike's ZFE controller to be activated and latch on. I...

Re: R1300RT Prototype
Looks like you’ve taken my post the wrong way, don’t think I said bmw suck. I happen to very much like my 1250RT, I’m saying not everyone weighs 60 to 80kg and it’d be useful to have more weight carrying capacity in newer models. No, I wasn't directing it at you. Just some opinions of the reactions...

Re: Conversion of BMW R1200 RTP to two seater
Interesting. Nice job. Generally I think people avoid this due to the cost of the parts required. I saw a kit at a US dealer that was in the thousands. That allowed use of the car seat and also accommodated the standard side cases. I like the small police cases. Although they are too small for trips...

Re: R1300RT Prototype
I think more emphasis on max weight carrying capability is due, I mean not everyone is svelte with a 32” waist or a size 8!. It would be great if the new model could carry 200kg plus of rider/pillion and still be able to take some luggage !. People want very different things from the next model. Sa...

Re: R1300RT Prototype
That is exactly what everyone said about the 2005 1200RT when it replaced the curvaceous 1150RT. I lost count of the number of times that "fugly" was used -especially by the Americans who seem to have invented the "word" (a very good reason why we Brits should avoid using it) Ne...

Re: R1300RT Prototype
I cant remember the last time BMW released a new bike where the BMW riders didnt whine and cry about how ugly it was.
Pretty much every generation of GS was met with insults. Just laughable.
They still manage to sell all of them.

I'm looking for a high/comfort heated BMW seat that would fit a 2018 RT. I would trade for my standard oem BMW heated seat.
