Re: Can't get tool onto stick coil
Update - On examining the special tool for removing the stick coil, I discovered a bit of a burr on on side which I think was catching on the coil. I filed it off, used a little bit of grease, and was able to get it on properly and remove the coil. Finally!

Re: Can't get tool onto stick coil
The video is helpful and convinces me that I don't have the tool on fully. Still thinking of using some lubricant, maybe a bit of grease.

Can't get tool onto stick coil
Trying to change my plugs and I'm having trouble fitting the special tool onto the top of the stick coil. It fits about half way but I can't get it to slide over and completely cover the top. I've looked at various videos and nobody mentions this as a problem In one, the guy smacks the side of it to...

Greetings from Montana
I bought my 2007 RT a few months back and have been sorting out various problems since then. It seemed like a terrific deal ($2750), a bike that look good with 38K miles. I knew it had a few problems but didn't realize the extent of them until I've had it for a while. A missing cable to the front se...

hub repair
I'm fixing various problems on a 2007 RT. The rear wheel hub got damaged when I'm guessing the bike went down. In the photo you'll see that the bottom of the hub where the plastic cover fits is deformed. I'm thinking that I should just take a grinder to remove the portion which would prevent the cov...

Re: Need to completely remove tank to disconnect grip?
Simbo, I must have had too much eggnog when I wrote that post. In fact, it was necessary to disconnect the lines because the heater cable is completely beneath the tank. I was able to get enough slack in the line to do the repair but still had to undo a good number of the ties. And BTW, it depends o...

Re: New to me 05 R1200RT
I know this is a late response and I hope you got it sorted out by now, but the one thought I had was that perhaps you didn't have good connections at the battery or at the ground connection.
Merry Christmas!

Re: Need to completely remove tank to disconnect grip?
The answer was yes. Lots of zip tie like things keeping the cable in place. PIA.

Need to completely remove tank to disconnect grip?
I need to repair the left grip heating wires on my 07. All the necessary body panels are off but I haven't disconnected the lines to the fuel tank yet. Wondering if I might just be able to shift the tank back enough to get at the connections for the heater grip wires. Didn't try yet but wondered if ...

Re: Voltage issue for seat connection
I was hoping that the canbus system might be behind this observation in which case, I won't worry about it other than keeping the bike on a maintainer over the winter.
I had not looked at the rear seat but now I am curious to see what its voltages read.

Voltage issue for seat connection
I’m the new owner of a 2007 R1200RT. I discovered the cable connecting to the seat had its plug missing. I’ve ordered a replacement but I discovered something which doesn’t seem right. I measured the voltage on the broken cable and found that with the ignition off, I got a measurement of 0.02V. With...
