Interesting that BMW have come up with a method of mounting a Nav. VI together with a TFT screen. Perhaps TFT only isn't for everyone.

Part numbers as requested, prices in UK GBP.

I'm guessing (but don't quote me) this might also be used on emergency service vehicles, people like the police have a lot of additional equipment they need around the cockpit...

The BMW TFT solution is OK for getting from A to B, however for longer tours I prefer to be able to use a dedicated device where I can more easily plan routes and download them to it... My phone does not fit in the charging bay and if BMW think I am going to change my phone to ride their bike they have another think coming:-)

Sorry missed this question:-(

Dealer fitted it, it bolts to the underside the yoke with a bolt each side using rubber grommets to insulate the mount. Apparently they had to remove the top part of the yoke to get the bolts in...

Hope that helps, Peter

This is more of a question re the onboard less than thrilling nav system.

At the moment, the onboard will not provide the map visual, only an arrow.

After deleting the phone and the RT and the map icon and reinstalling everything it still fails. Dealer says it's my phone (Samsung) and I should have an Apple. Right. I'm going to buy a phone just so it I have a connection although the RT system includes Android connection.

I contacted BMW. Delete everything and reinstall. Fail again.

Damn glad I've got the Zumo.

Suggestions?

Thanks.

I wonder whether 90% of the connection losses would be solved if the USB A connection in the right hand storage was actually a hard wired network connection instead of just a charger?
