Last week I had the 20000km service done by BMW on my '20 R1250RT. While doing that they performed a SW update. Mechanic said it was for a warning light for the suspension, now being yellow and after the SW update being red. Strange story but okay.
When I picked up my bike I immediately felt loss in power and torque

Turns out to be they put the new software on my bike which actually is meant for the GS/GSA/RTP, recall number 0000232600 (see PDF above).
The new software doesn't allow high RPM's when pulling the clutch in 3, 4, 5 or 6th gear and give full throttle. Now my bike only makes 6000 RPM when doing that, while before the SW update it would went into the redline at 9000 RPM. This should be protecting the transmission input shaft from breaking.
Don't have a problem with that, but I do have a problem with the loss in torque and power. If I give full throttle now in 6th going 100km/h it feels like a bloody 600cc bike, feels like at least 20Nm missing

Long story short, let the BMW mechanic NOT perform a SW update, even when they say it's "for warning light from yellow to red".
I think BMW is doing this secretly on the R/RS/RT when it's in for a regular service to avoid a worldwide safety recall like for the GS/GSA/RTP.
