MOT time

The old girl passed the MOT with flying colours this afternoon :-D . Had to use a new test centre due to CMW sadly closing their doors after 70 years of selling and servicing motorbikes.
The new center( RD Auto's Chichester) was very busy with cars, vans, and bikes. It was like a conveyor belt, one in and one out. The tester is a biker. A big plus when the inspection comes up.
What surprised me was looking at the mileage record, I covered a lot more miles than i thought. 15637 miles in the last year. How many miles have you ridden in a year?
Trust me I am a retired Doctor and lecturer at Oxford University of Structural and Mechanical/Electrical engineering.

Between MOT tests, I've ridden 5,186 miles on the Yamaha XJ650 and 4,833 miles on the RT, a total of 10,019 miles.

The XJ650 was tested at a local testing station, still using the "old school" Salter type pull along brake tester/meter.

Took the RT to a local BMW dealer, decided to give them the business as they have done me a good deal on servicing.

Over the past few years it's typically been around 2500/3000 in the UK, and then the same again on tours in the EU and America :cheers:

I'm hopefully moving to Scotland next year, so will probably double that :thumb:

I do around 6k a year but some of us are young enough to still work 😂

All mine are fun miles too never commute on the bike!

6.5k so far with 4k of that on the Greek tour.

When I bought my 20 plate from Bowkers earlier this year they gave me a letter saying they'd test it for free but couldn't fit it in when I asked for it! Luckily I have a really old skool bike mechanics up the road from me where I take all my bikes anyway, who could do it. I always say if you don't use your local workshops, one day they won't be there. ;)

Sods law. The bike gets a new MOT and i go down with Covid. Luck is not with me. :mad:

Hope it’s a mild one… I was bad for a couple of days then 10 days getting over it.

Bad luck with the Lurgi!

I had my flu & Covid jabs recently - flu in the left arm, Covid in the right. I'm covered, as long as I don't get flu in the right arm...... :roll:

At least you are not currently missing fine, warm, dry riding weather.
