Re: maintaince update from BMW USA
As I understood it the shaft would be replaced at 36k on older bikes, but the spline grease was now part of the 12k service and like anything else in a service had to be paid for by the customer. This new letter seems to contradict that and says BMW will do it FOC. If so, are there any T&Cs attached to tha, e.g. does the normal 12k service have to be done at a BMW dealer atthe same time (speaking for folk like me who uses a local & independent garage to service my RT).
As far as I know this announcement hasn't made it to the UK yet.

It's already reached the UK, I received my letter in November and had the shaft replaced this month as part of the annual service.

I may be a bit confused but hadn't this been discussed at length before. My shaft was checked and DOTTED earlier this year when it went it for service.

Yes, well discussed. I had the letter in late summer, for my previous 1250GS.
Be interesting to see if they have to do something for the 1300s.

Yes it has and I think we're all aware of the 36k miles replacement service drill by now. The new bit of information is that, well according to the letter shown in the video ( in the USA anyway), is that BMW are going to do the 12k spline grease service FOC. This time last year I had to pay for mine to be done.burridge01 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 10, 2024 7:09 am I may be a bit confused but hadn't this been discussed at length before.
