Buying tips!

Post by Stu »

Just recently there has been a big uptake in scammers on Facebook groups and as such I suspect they could make their way on to forums.

I would just like to say to please be vigilant when buying off anyone selling parts & accessories online be it on here of Facebook etc.

Always meet in person if you can and collect goods but if you can't then always use secure ways to buy like PayPal ensuring you use good and service as the payment option and not friends and family unless of course you trust the seller.

Please note that I Do not accept any responsibility for anything being bought or sold on the forums and everything is at your own risk so please do ensure you are buying from or selling to a trustworthy person if possible.

Also if you do suspect a seller then please feel free to report them and I can easily check out their account.

I can impose restrictions on the selling sections if people would prefer like must have a minimum number of posts or be a subscriber etc

I think a minimum number of posts to be able to sell would be a good idea.
It would still not be 100% foolproof but it will help.

Just a heads up guys we have had a member try to be scammed a few weeks ago on here via private message! as a result I removed that member

If you receive any "offers" via PM that seem to good to be true then they probably are! feel free to report the suspicious activity to myself and I will deal with the member as need be.

In the meantime I am going to look at limiting private messages to members who have at least 10 posts on the forum to try and combat this

I nearly bought a Pride shirt on this forum less than a week ago, I was gutted when I realised it was a scam. 😁

This was brought to my attention. I removed the posts and you could see it was a scam straight away.
I've been on sites that only allow you to post for sale unless you have 100 postings behind you. This seemed to work but personally I think that was set a bit high.
Luckily most of us know each other by reputation and trustworthiness. I would never buy from a newish member who start sell straight away.

The trouble is they have been doing it via private message!

I could just limit private messages and for sale to subscribers

1. limit the number of posts before putting items up for sale.
2. No posting of items for sale in other sections.
3. Post items for sale without properly contributing to the site conversions. I.e trying to get around rule 1
4 . No items to be offered for sale by private message.
These rules should be included in the T&C of the site that all are meant to read before signing up to join the site.

Please add if you think other rules should be added
