hub repair
I'm fixing various problems on a 2007 RT. The rear wheel hub got damaged when I'm guessing the bike went down. In the photo you'll see that the bottom of the hub where the plastic cover fits is deformed. I'm thinking that I should just take a grinder to remove the portion which would prevent the cover from fitting. Alternatively, I could try to carefully use a drift to hammer it back into place. Any thoughts appreciated.

Re: hub repair
From what I can see on my 2012 Camhead, same as a 2007 Hexhead, the plastic cover is a push fit onto the inside rotating shaft circumference, (it turns with the wheel).
To allow the cover to fit, the inside circumference of the damaged area may need a small amount of "dressing up" to make it concentric with the inner rotating shaft again. There needs to be/must be a small clearance between the rotating cover and the final drive unit.
