Suspension worries.

Post by Roper424 »

HELLLLLLP!

So I think I have an issue with my rear suspension. I dropped it off the centre stand earlier and it just didn't feel right. Just a single solid thud on the floor rather than the usual little bounce. It also feels like it's sitting a little lower than normal. But... I don't see any oil ANYWHERE. There's no rattle or knock on anything. And when I go over a bump it doesn't seem any different. Also, the electric adjustment is still raising and lowering the bike as it should.

Can someone give me a clue?

Many thanks,
James.

How many miles has it done? BMW does a very limited warranty for the suspension units.
Speak to Lucasz at TTech Suspension, he services them.

As above and they also other replacment Tractive suspension. About £250 for rebuild and about £700 for replacment for front about a year ago and a really helpfull guy. BMW only cover to 30,000 miles so if high milage replacment worth considering.

So mine is coming up to 25000 miles, but its a 15 plate... So I'd imagine BMW would just laugh if I took it to them.

Any advice on what else to look for other than oil marks (which there isn't any that I can see).

Cheers.

if you have extended warranty it should cover it. If remember correctly warranty cover restriction of 30,000 mile is for mechanical failure not electrical fault believe that has no restriction.

I’m it’s 2nd or 3rd owner. I’ll give them a call but I’d be amazed if they’ll do anything with it on a 10 year old bike. That said, nothing ventured, nothing gained.
