Later version of the RT
Have you ever changed your Rt for a newer version and regretted it. I've owned my 2006 Rt from new and touch wood it's been very reliable ,having it for this length of time suggests I must be reasonably happy with it. I have often thought of replacing it with a newer version and still do. But when I've watched Time for a change.V-Todds motor show on YouTube it certainly doesn't help. It would be interesting to hear others views on this

I replaced my twin cam with an LC, and although it initially needed some fettling to be as comfortable (I'm over 6ft), I wouldn't change back. Although it's not night and day better, the overall package is just more refined.

I had a 2007 Hexhead and changed it for a 2010 Camhead. IMO, the Camhead engine is crisper and the styling sharper. In 2014 when the Wethead came out, I test rode one and didn't like it. Ended up buying a used low mileage 2012 Camhead. As I don't like the modern LC models, I'll be keeping my current model.

I really should have a ride on a camhead ,as you said sharper styling and a crisper engine, also it's still posible to buy a good low mileage example. In the previous comment went from a twin cam to a LC more refined as it was put.I've also never had a ride on this model it might be time to visit dealer and satisfy my curiosity

I've often looked at newer models but then ask myself why. My 07 is 100% reliable and why do I want the hassle for all that modern day electrics for them to only fail. Another way I look at it is if I drop my 07, I doesn't really matter but if I drop a new bike it would be a nightmare.
Trust me I am a retired Doctor and lecturer at Oxford University of Structural and Mechanical/Electrical engineering.

I have a '13RT that I bought new and with 93K it's still going strong. I do all my own maintenance and it's proven to be an easy bike to work on and very reliable. While the '13RT was the last of the air/oil cooled the camhead engine was not discontinued and has lived on in the RnineT and know in the R12nineT. A testament to the excellence of the engine and drivetrain. I may be partial, but I think the Camheads were the best of the pre Wethead RT's. Everything just works and works well!

Approaching 100k that's great I don't think my 2006 Rt will ever see that ,I'll turn 72 this year and it's taken me 19 years to put 37k on it .Good point about the engine still being used in the Nine T something I'd never thought about. Previous comment about modern day electrics, since the introduction of can bus etc it's something we have to live with .

Never had anything older than my 2016 model so can't comment on the previous bikes!
I must say though the RT is the best bike I have owned to the point a few years ago I had fallen out of love with riding! I bought the RT as a tourer for me and the wife and the intention was to sell my FJR to fund a toy for myself
That was 3 years ago and 23000 miles and can't keep off the RT and never did buy another bike!
I love all the electronics its got I love the styling and I love the handling. The gearbox can be a bit clunky but thats across all models I am led to believe
