So i brought what i thought was a genuine bmw air filter from M&P swansea.
It turned up this morning, only to see it was an aftermarket Mahle air filter.
So i will be sending it back as i paid OEM money for an Aftermarket part.
Why do they do this, do they hope buyers wont care its not a genuine part.

Re: Air Filter
Yes Diavid it is the one in the first link.
It even said on the box "Aftermarket"
The BMW filter i brought last time from BMW was made by MANN Filters.
If i wanted a MAHLE i could of got one for a lot less than i paid.
It was not even the same filter that was in the photo on eBay.
My old bmw filter first photo and the new MAHLE filter in the second photo.

Re: Air Filter
The Mahle box says OE quality.
Mann also make air filters for BMW, same number as on the genuine BMW filter, C 18 008.
https://www.mann-filter.com/uk-en/catal ... ilter.html
Available from Amazon, https://www.amazon.co.uk/Mann-Filter-18 ... B00NQZJC14
Or, half price from Autodoc, https://moto.autodoc.co.uk/mann-filter/ ... ll%20Pages
I use Hiflo which are acceptable to BMW warranty. I'd rather buy two and change them twice as often, every year or 6,000 miles, not every 12,000 miles.

Re: Air Filter
Some might say i'm being picky.
But OEM equivalent is not the same as Genuine OEM.
If i wanted aftermarket or oem equivalent i would of brought them.
But things like air and oil filters i only use oem in any of our bikes.
Yes you pay a bit more for them, But that is my choice to pay more.
When you buy anything online going by photos or description, that is what you should get.
Using the word "Genuine" in a listin and photos of a BMW Box and filter and then sending a MAHLE OEM equivalent is not giving the buyer the genuine item.
Its like the spark plugs i just brought, I did not buy BMW spark plugs, but brought NGK LMAR8AI-10 Laser Iridium Spark Plug which i know were not OEM. But i know that before i brought them. The filter i did not know was OEM equivalent.

Re: Air Filter
NGK make BMW spark plugs and Mann make BMW air filters.
BMW spark plugs are £21.06 each and a BMW air filter is £31.80.
