So today i was on the phone to my stepdaughter .
When she was here last month she kept on about having a go on my wife sv650s. We did not let that happen.
Motorcycles got bought up again, and in a moment of weakness i said if she gets her CBT i will buy her a bike.
Her first words were "i want a 600". i told her NO as she needs an A2 licence. So i said i will buy her a 125cc to get started on. I told her i want to see the CBT first and she has to pay for her own insurance and tax.
WHAT HAVE I DONE.
Ive been looking for a little bike today and i think ive found one that will fit the bill. I dont want her on a sports bike.

Nice gesture.
I would be inclined to get her a Honda CB125F. They're not very expensive, they're ultra reliable and importantly, they're worth more than most when she's ready to sell it and move on to a bigger bike.
Check the insurance costs too. My daughter wants to get into riding and her insurance on a CB125F is being quoted at £1,758!

Re: What have i done
Until she has got use to the weight and slow speed turning, i am not willing to get her a better make of bike.
The Keeway are not to bad for a first bike and if she is like her mum when she first started riding, she will be buying clutch and brake levers in bulk.

I used to do CBT’s with the CB125’s which performed stirling work, and despite various students best efforts they never managed to break them!
I used to carry spare levers when my (ex) wife rode her VFR750 as she dropped the thing nearly every ride… perverse as it may seem she was far better on a Fireblade and never dropped it, but it fitted her better and it was much lighter.

To a young girl that's probably a good looking bike. Low seat, comfy riding position and she'll be thinking she's going to look pretty cool (or what the term youngsters use nowadays) posing on it when the good weather comes. Some of us are brand snobs and wouldn't touch a Keeway, but to many they tick a lot of boxes and don't mind the Chinese connection.

Yamaha YBR125's are another good option. Good luck to her! Always nice to see the young un's getting into biking.
The GS 'is' the better bike :-)

And in my experience women are so much easier to teach than blokes.. no testosterone and they don’t sulk if they’re corrected on something. Plus, when they pass their tests it’s a whole lot nicer being hugged by a woman than some hairy-assed biker bloke!

My wife has said not to buy the bike untill Lucy has got her CBT.
She said this way she has to get her ass in gear if she wants the bike.

I bought all my sons their first car, never bikes. Only my eldest is into bikes. They all wanted cars I had at that time: a split screen VW camper, an Impala, and a Chevy Nomad. I had and still do have a thing for large V8.
Trust me I am a retired Doctor and lecturer at Oxford University of Structural and Mechanical/Electrical engineering.
