New (to me) RT owner

It has forward & rear cameras fitted, with an Innov box under the saddle, but I have no idea how to access the product at the moment.

I have a Innovv K3 system on my RT and you access the 'black box' via an app on your phone. Some iphones can be difficult to connect, it tells you it's paired and all that, but it just doesn't connect properly. Android not a problem. Other than saying these Innovv systems are fit & forget dash cams rather than removable social media cams, they're really good. Mine is the K3, is nearly four years old now and aside from a 3rd party SD card getting corrupted the one, it's proven to be a rock solid bit of kit.

It also has an EZCan box under the saddle, which controls some Denali spots and some trick sidelight things on the fairing.

Again fitter to my RT and another solid bit of kit, but their user interface is a bit dated and only connects to a laptop program via USB cable. That said once plugged in the customisation is good and the quality of their product excellent. You can adjust the brightness of the lights on the go via the Wonder Wheel if necessary. One useful feature is to turn on the 'only when the engine is running' feature as it save on battery power if you've got the ignition, but not the engine running for other reasons.

Ref the high tech stuff. The EzCan is really easy to use, the only naff bit is they call the wiring the 'blue', 'white' or 'red' circuits rather than allowing you to name 'lights' or 'horn', you know, something useful! Once you figure out which is which, a little label goes a long way for the next time!

Don't really remember much about the Innovv app, it's a case of once set up I've pretty much left as is. I very occasionally take out the SD card to chech it's recording okay, but aside from finding that the SD card had gone pop the once, it just works.

Sadly I can't make it this weekend, but I am going to the RTE at Alston the following weekend.

I'm making a little progress. I tried flashing the lights 3 times, and yes, the spots strobe for a few seconds. Had no idea they could do that.

Nothing happens re brightness, though, when I turn the wonder wheel, but to be honest, the spots are on all the time and it suits me to just leave them as they are.

No sign of Innovv on wifi, (iPhone 12) so I will have to try and get a suitable cable to connect it to my phone.

I do wonder though, if my side emblem lights are wired to a socket, rather than the EZCan, why it's there, seeing as I have the standard horn fitted and nothing other than the Denali's are plugged into it? Seems a bit overkill.

I can't make Alston, Capt., so my next appearance will be at the Brit Butt Rally on 26/27 April.

I tried to join a BMW riders group. On first meeting, mine was the ONLY RT there!!!
Disappointing.

I joined the BMW club UK. Everyone was older than me( I was 58 at the time). Because my bike wasn't nice and shiny I was looked down on.Every ride out was via pubs or food outlets that were more than my wallet could spare. Overall it was just too snooty for me also their forum is a joke. ask a question,wait forever for a reply.
My first and only club, group ride out. Never again, I'll stick with my own rides

I also joined and was disapointed to say the least. The only advantage was that a couple of shops would give you a 10% discount if you quoted your membership number and I got my membership fee back by taking advantage of that the once, but otherwise it just wasn't worth it.

I just had a look at the membership prices for The BMW Club.
If you join on the 1st May and dont renew on the 31st January, you can get 9 months membership for £20 which sounds better value.

The only kind of group ride I've ever enjoyed was one where we stopped every hour or so for coffee. That made for conversation between real people.
The ride is just staring at someone else's license plate.

The club here is pretty good. Nice folks, a decent amount of activity (day rides, meets, rallies, charity work, etc), and the bikes aren't all GS'. With the discount from the local dealer, the membership is well worth it.

If the local club isn't what you want it to be, maybe you could make it that way. I've had rides start with someone posting "I'm going out to a State Park next weekend. If you want to come, meet me at IHOP at 9am." Or, invite them to help with a local charity by doing a ride or just a work day.

A few years ago (OK, it was like 20 years ago), I had a Honda V65 Sabre and posted on the V4 Honda board that I was going to tune and synchronize my carbs one Saturday and if anyone else wanted to join in, they were welcome. I had 8 others come over that day and we had a GREAT time fixing the bikes, hanging out, grilling some burgers (unplanned, but what the heck!), and making friends!
