Castrol Power 1 Racing now “ Ultimate” ?

Post by Panman40 »

So my favourite oil is the full synth Castrol, power 1 racing 5w/40, my last 4L tub was £45 from Amazon last year.
Now that 4L is unavailable and it seems to have morphed into Power 1 Ultimate but it’s not widely available in a 4L and pretty expensive. Cheapest I’ve seen it for is £11.95 per 1L from Opie oils but as it’s just shy of £49.95 it’s plus postage.

Anyone seen a reasonably priced 4L anywhere ?.

If you don't mind switching to Motul (same spec.), EasyRider identified this for £45 with free delivery.

(I've supplied Motul oil to a BMW dealer and they were quite happy to use it).

Thanks David, I did see that and Motul is a reputable brand but I do prefer Castrol, I used BMW shell oil time before last and found things were not quite as smooth especially the gear change, went back to Castrol and preferred it, or my placebo did anyway

It’s tempting, I use their decking/ fence panel oil bought via eBay.

Been using their oil for years. Ive sent samples to be tested over those years and all came back favorable, even one sample that was used for over 2 years.
When I was at Oxford University, I tested many oils and fuels for the MOD. Within these recommendations, my team put S&A forward.
Ive been told behind closed doors that their products are also rebranded by large well-known brands and sold for over double the cost
Trust me I am a retired Doctor and lecturer at Oxford University of Structural and Mechanical/Electrical engineering.
May the shaft be with you

You know what, against my better judgement I think im going to try the smith & Allen oil, it’s not like I do a million miles anyway. I just need to remember not to put the decking oil in by mistake  .

I've used the 10w50 in my twin cam on a couple of occasions without issue.
The GS 'is' the better bike :-)
