Preload settings for towing my boat. R1201RT

Post by netplayjoe »

Good morning all-

I have a 27' Bayliner Ceria Cruiser that I need to tow from my house to the river, about 40 miles. I'll be using my R1201RT. The boat weighs about 7500 pounds (About 3400kg for those in the EU) and I'm wondering what you all would recommend for rear shock preload. Also, I plan on using ratchet straps fed through the rear axle and ty-wrapped to the receiver on the boat to make the connection. I am wondering how often you all would recommend stopping and greasing the ratchet straps where they pass through the axle, I want them to slide smoothly. Sorry if this question is too technical, but I did just install one new WWII army surplus spark plug, (going to need her to run her best for this ride) what kind of engine oil should I dip it in before I tack weld it? Thanks in advance for all your helpful comments! Warm Greetings from the USA on this beautiful April first day.

This does not seem like a good idea. Is this a post appropriate for the April 1st tradition of "April fools?"
