My shaft was replaced in February 2024 along with a full software update and rear foot peg clips. This was all done as a warranty recall so FOC.

Re: Free Shaft replacement from BMW
I have had a real battle with the BMW dealer in Exeter. Insisted it had to have full BMW service history, even for the 5 years post warranty. I suggested this was not true so they said I had to submit the independent garage service records and they would then contact BMW UK to get approval. Anyone else come across this resistance?

No, my 2018 hasn’t had a dealer service in the last 4 years, but I still received a letter from BMW to get the shaft checked along with the footrests and ECU update FOC.

Re: Free Shaft replacement from BMW
Has anybody had a Drive shaft replacement in Australia (where I live - Perth WA) on the Motorad house?
I have upgraded from my R1100rt (after 9 years, and 3 times West to East and Back. 175,000 Ks on the clock)
to an R1200RT LC 2016 - 3 months ago with 90,000 Ks on the clock - yes the price was right under 10K AUD. So don't mind throwing couple of Grand at it to make it reliable.
recently,
I have noticed a strange (To Me) vibration during different rev ranges, and suspect the drive shaft due to the high Ks. and the forums etc..
I will be removing the drive shaft tomorrow to inspect, but are not that keen to fork out 1400AUD for a new shaft - if Motorad are replacing shafts free to consumers in USA and Britain. What about Australia??

Re: Free Shaft replacement from BMW
my understanding is that it was a worldwide recall. You must take your complete bike in and not just the shalft
Trust me I am a retired Doctor and lecturer at Oxford University of Structural and Mechanical/Electrical engineering.
May the shaft be with you
