2022 better than 2021?

Post by jimboRT1964 »

Hello! I have an opportunity to purchase a very low mileage R1250RT 2021 at a great price but without warranty. And as I've heard of problems with the TFT screen of the 2021s, I was wondering if it is worth spending a few extra thousand dollars to purchase a 2022. Are there any other reliability issues with the 2021s vs the 2022s? Thank you for your opinions.

I've not heard of any real problems with the 21 TFT screen? If there was it'd only be a matter of a software update to bring a a 21 model TFT up to date with models right up to current date ones because nothing has physically changed since then.

I haven't heard anything bad about them where a software update hasn't fixed an issue

I have a 2021 R1250RT and haven’t had any major issues so far, including with the TFT. That said, I’ve seen others report intermittent glitches that were mostly fixed with software updates. The 2022s don’t seem dramatically different mechanically, but they did benefit from firmware refinements. If the 2021 you’re looking at is in great shape and priced well, I’d say it’s a solid choice — just make sure it has the latest updates installed.

Thanks for taking the time to give me your opinion! I did finally purchase the 2021 I was looking considering. So far so great and no problem with the TFT. Needless to say, I'm in love and I feel I'll remain loving this bike for a long time. Cheers!
