Riding mode invalid

Post by 63north »

Hi, I recently bought a 2013 R1200 (med 2012) and my front suspension is almost stiff like bone.
I've ordered used front shock, but when using GS911 two indications don't add up in my mind;

GS911 comes up with message RIDING MODE INVALID. I can calibrate the aft shock, so that working properly.

Another thing is that when calibrating ESA I see numbers for the rear shock but only dashes for the front shock.

I've disconnected the battery for 45 min and checked the connectors to the front shock.
I'm worried that even though I change the front shock the problem doesn't vanish.

So, great minds of this forum, -any ideas?

Hi, as far as I'm aware? The ESA only adjusts the rear suspension compression for ride hight for carrying passenger, luggage or single rider and luggage like using a C spanner on a rear shock absorber. The damping is also controlled by the ESA with 3 (modes) comfort, sport, and something else (possibly), but totally un noticeable on earlier models. Yes the front suspension feels solid when stationary due to the telelever set up, but once on the move if you look down at the fork stanchions they do actually move quite a bit.
