New to me 1250RT has a spongy front brake, Lever can pull almost to bar and then firms up on second pull
Seems like air in lines.
tried zip tie on lever overnight: No difference
Is there any trick/difference in bleeding the front brakes on this bike? This is my first BMW and don't want to introduce a new problem or error code.

Just bleed them as you normally would.
There is no need to activate the abs pump on them either
If you get no improvement then you might have a sticking piston or two

On my current 21reg RT the front brake was like yours but after bleeping and adjusted the lever everything was fine.

Yes just like a normal bike, not running etc. Just on the centre stand.
It maybe worth checking the front calipers are nice and free prior to bleeding them.
