Shoei Neotec 2 - Breather Guard

Post by Capt Sisko »

A question to Shoei Neotec 2 owners. Does your Breather Guard keep falling out?

I'm on the point of ditching mine completely as it seems to come loose then out at the lightest of touches, such as catching it whilst push back my glasses when wearing thicker winter gloves. I've tried basic UHU type glue but the fit is so loose I'd feels like I'd have to apply half a tube of the stuff just to fill in the gaps and I don't want to use a permanent glue like Araldite or a heat gun glue. Looking at Shoei's website there is only one breather guard so it can't be a 'you've got the wrong size' issue and no matter how far, firm or otherwise I press it in, sooner rather than latter it comes loose.

So, do others find theirs coming loose or is there a secret technique to securing them in place?
For clarification it's the bit arrowed in the photo below.

No, it should not. Take the guard completely off. Look for snaps or cut outs to attach to chrome post in the helmet. If they are torn or damaged, you will need to order a new one. If they are good, reinsert the guard back inplace insuring that those snaps and cut outs are properly attached.
It has been a while, but I believe that there are only 2 cut outs and no snaps. It takes a bit of fiddling to get them to attach properly.

You could try putting some tape on it to make it marginally larger?

If that does not work, I have the same helmet and don't use the breath guard, so I can send you a new one if you decide you need it ;)
