Hi Guys
Have a 2016 1200RT with 30k on the clock. Just bought bike around 3 months ago and have put approx 900 miles on it due to bike laid up over winter. When I’m stationary and idling there’s a chatter from either gears or bearings and this goes away when you pull in clutch. Been in motor trade al my working life and this used to be associated with either gearbox bearings worn or excess lash in gears but this may be standard on this model - to into dealer where I bought the bike and they think it’s ok but they are not MOTORAD dealers , looking for advice ??

Clutch chatter, viewtopic.php?p=37609#p37609 does this sound familiar.

David always to the rescue.
My 07 has always had a clutch rattle, pull the leaver in and it's gone. My prev 07 from 15000 miles rattled. I've not known one not to.
Don't worry unless your clutch slips under pressure. My bike has done 35000 on it's second clutch, fitted at BMW and that rattles. Like I said don't worry.

Trust me I am a retired Doctor and lecturer at Oxford University of Structural and Mechanical/Electrical engineering.

Mine’s the same 45k and I have heard it for a good few years, I’d say it pretty normal.Rayjohnston wrote: ↑Wed Feb 26, 2025 9:23 am Hi Guys
