Replacement pannier locking mechanism

I know this has been mentioned before but I haven't really seen any definitive answers. As per other posts, my pannier handle wont lock the pannier onto the bike and the locking mechanism is now sprained and unserviceable. Steve from Rainbow BMW has quoted me £224.17 for a new mechanism. Has anyone here found a cheaper alternative that will be enough for me to flog the bike? It's been nothing but trouble

Have you checked eBay or some of the used parts houses?

Sort of but all they bring up is replacement barrels and that's not what I need. I suppose that highlights that I'm not exactly sure what to search for...

Cheers Glen, that's really helpful. It's a US site though and I'm in England but that being said, it's given me an idea of how to get the specific part I may need. Unfortunately there was no price on it, so I can't get a rough gauge how much I might need to pay
