Drive malfunction lights up after removing additional control unit

Hello,
two days ago I purchased a second hand R1250RT MY2022 with 13.000 Kms. The previous owner installed an additional Rapid control unit, that was removed before I took the bike. After the removal, the Drive Malfunction indicator lighted up.
The mechanic told me the central unit parameter needs to load the new parameters, this could take 200/300 Kms and then the indicator should turn off.
Does it make sense or would you advise a central unit reset?

If I get it right from the manual, when Drive Malfunction light comes on steadily, the problem affect pollutant emissions but I can keep riding. Is this correct?
