Sat nave being an arse!

Post by jesim1 »

My 2022 RT has been fine using the inbuilt sat nave 99% of the time, even though it is a bit inconvenient, it disconnects when stopped for fuel or coffee and has to reconnect - but I can live with that.

Recently after being laid up for winter though it took a while to connect up, the maps didn't want to auto size when pulling away and I had to go into the options on the bike to zoom it correctly, and then I was getting several disconnections during a few hours riding, which was all new.

As far as I'm aware there is no option to check for new software, but if feels like something has changed over the winter, and not in a good way, BMW really should sort this out once and for all - but don't!

Anyway, I'm now thinking about a phone mount to run the sat nav seperately as I'm doing a three week tour in Europe and don;t need the hasstle of this playing up day after day, so firstly, is anyone experianceing the same? And secondly, can folk post some pics of what they have mount wise for their phones as I need some options

Hiya
If your on the connected ride App then it will be down to the updates BMW have done over winter.
Myself and Simbo both had the app do updates and map down loads.

Everything works perfect again afterwards.

I'm still struggling then, I've done about 500 miles this year so far, and the sat nav has played up on every outing, so whatever they have done it's messed mine up.

I could do with having a look at an alternative before I do a big trip just to cover me, I can't be bothered being stranded in the middle of the EU with a dodgy sat nav, it will just spoil my holiday
