Does anyone else think that the average yearly mileage of a car when selling or buying seen high when selling and low when buying. Its like the dealers makes it up to suit themselves.
One report from CarBuyer gives 3 averages. Petrol, Diesel and EV. Petrol 7400, Diesel 12500 and EV 9400.
This report seems to be more on the ball than many i have read, but still 12500 seems high still for a diesel.
I found myself if you get low MPG from your car you use the car less, like i did with my mondeo estate.
IMO these days if a car gets less than 40mpg it will be parked up more than its used.
When looking on Autotrader it does tell you if a cars mileage is above or below average and like CarBuyer it is not the same between petrol, diesel and EV's. But Autotrader is on the low side at just over 7200 for a diesel per year.
The other point i think which has a lot to do with it, is more people are now working from home after covid so dont drive as many miles as before covid.
So the big question is, are we driving less now than we did before Covid to have a low average.
25 years ago it was over 9000 miles and i can remember when it was 12000 miles a year average.
