Hi all, can anyone offer some insights please. I have an RT 1200 2005 with an ESA problem. Basically, I got an indication on the dash of the different modes with nothing working and now I've got no indication on the dash at all.
I took it to the dealer for calibration, and they said no ESA was detected.
I than ordered another control unit - ECU (second hand) and that brought the display back to life but apart from the display changing with the switch that nothing was working.
(also, I've tested the actual rear pre-load unit bypassing the battery and connecting it directly - yes it goes up and down)
When the engine was running, I got a burning smell, I think this is what burnt out the old unit. This tells me something between the power supply and the ECU is not working.
I guess my question is - is this a wiring issue? Does anyone with this type of experience have some ideas?
I have a wiring diagram and looking at the harness at the point where I am about to expose all wiring to see if I can find where the problem is.
Basically, it looks like there is power getting from the dash/ignition to the ECU but not to the units themselves. Hopefully I might smell something burnt out, I might put the old ECU unit back in (which is already gone) run it and see if I can get the burning smell again.
As bad as that sounds I don't mind because at least I can trace it live and replace what's not working. Could be a bad earth etc.
Any ideas?
