It hadn't Happened and Was Bound To Happen At Some Point

Post by Greenmekon »

Hi all,

Been the owner of two motorbikes since May last year and hadn't dropped one. Just been to Scotland and back with the RT (owned since may this year) and dropped it twice 😞

I need your advice. I have scuffed up my engine cover (almost ordered engine guards before I left) and my right hand pannier (pictures attached). I would like to get both sorted. If any of your kind people could offer some advice that would be very helpful.

Thanks a lot
Steve

Leave the Battle scars. Make up a story, tell everyone you side swiped a Ducati Panigale V4 S passing him on the track. . :blah:

.
Thanks, Mark

For my 1200, I purchased some lower pannier protectors from BMW. If they make them for your bike, they might just cover over that scratch.

Hi

Bad luck but it happens to most of us at some time.

Cylinder heads I have engine bars fitted to offer some protection to the head covers. Various ons available I fitted Wunderlich ones from Nippy Normans.

Pannier cover ebay is probably the best place a full pannier would be around £250-£300 The same pannier was fitted to the 2014 RTs and K1600 so there should be a few available

Thank you for your advice. I think I need to go to the gym so I can build my strength up so I can handle the bike a bit better

You could always drop it again and lift it up then repeat again and again save on Gym fees to buy engine bars

Joking apart these are heavy machines to lift I remember dropping mine on a steep hill ( Stopped and put my foot down and there was nothing there) Nearly had a heart attack getting the thing back up again. That said a few years ago I had a Triumph sprint gt with a full tank of fuel you need the build of the worlds strongest man to get the thing back up if you dropped it.

Funny enough that is what the wife said 😂

Pretty much the same thing happened to me, stopped on a hill that was slopped and went to put my right foot down and there was no ground and over she went.

It was not as bad as I thought getting the bike back up, but my heart was banging in my chest.

I came down from Holme Moss towards Holmfirth a couple of weeks ago, had to turn around just before the main part of the town, the police had closed the road.
