Yes, a GS 911 was one of the first things I bought for diagnostics and resetting the service light. There are cheaper alternatives out there now though.
The GS 'is' the better bike :-)

Been looking at one of these, limited to just resetting service light...... would rather a cheaper version of a full reader....

It depends what you are going to do with it!
If you're just going to do a service light them look at cheaper alternatives
If you want to be able to read and clear error codes and more then get the gs-911

Make sure that you get the right model for your bike. I'm getting this one for my K26 R1200RT-P: HEX ezCAN for BMW R1200. It's quite a bit less expensive than $400.

Re: GS 911 Worth it???
Given that we all have smartphones/pads/laptops nowadays, why isn't the software available to download and you just buy a suitable cable or wireless connector to suit your particular bike & device?
You could either buy the software outright, pay monthly, buy a fixed number of use or level of access. Given we can't all afford or want to have several hundred pounds worth of kit that's only used occasionally, I think the manufacturers are missing a big sales opportunity.
