Yes, a GS 911 was one of the first things I bought for diagnostics and resetting the service light. There are cheaper alternatives out there now though.
The GS 'is' the better bike :-)

Been looking at one of these, limited to just resetting service light...... would rather a cheaper version of a full reader....

It depends what you are going to do with it!
If you're just going to do a service light them look at cheaper alternatives
If you want to be able to read and clear error codes and more then get the gs-911

Make sure that you get the right model for your bike. I'm getting this one for my K26 R1200RT-P: HEX ezCAN for BMW R1200. It's quite a bit less expensive than $400.

Re: GS 911 Worth it???
Given that we all have smartphones/pads/laptops nowadays, why isn't the software available to download and you just buy a suitable cable or wireless connector to suit your particular bike & device?
You could either buy the software outright, pay monthly, buy a fixed number of use or level of access. Given we can't all afford or want to have several hundred pounds worth of kit that's only used occasionally, I think the manufacturers are missing a big sales opportunity.

Re: GS 911 Worth it???
So in the end I went with the Healtech unit, changed the oil today and re-set the service light, all went ok ish.
All previous servicing done by BMW, nearly broke the filer cap trying to get ot off... kin ell bloody tight, also oil filter on far too tight, had a chain wrench on it with a 1/2" ratchet, needed a huge effort to get moving..
The Healtech instructions said to change the dash to KMH, couldn't find any way to do this (1250RT) so went ahead with it in MPH. Added 10,ooo somethings to the count down mileage, may be KM's or Miles, then changed the service date to this day in 2026. Held both buttons for 3 seconds and it said "UP" which I think means it has upoaded the new data. Disconnected, switched off, waited 10 seconds and switched bike on again...... no service warning ... sucess
So apart from the instructions being a bit off the Healtech done the job.....
