Exhaust hanger on 2016 rt1200rt

Post by Bearbike1 »

After servicing my bike the dealer handed me an exhaust hanger which was separated from the exhaust pipe.
It looks like it is located mid exhaust. Is the is necessary ?

Hi

Do you mean the clamp between the exhaust flap valve and the silencer? This has a tendancy to seize so when you try to remove it the bolt sheers and you have to replace the clamp

Indeed. This happened to mine at the last tyre change. The trye shop got it off, eventually, after much cursing & complaining and used a jubilee clip as a get you home bodge. I ordered a new one and put it on with a load of hi-temp grease on it, but I've added a remove, clean & regrease every Autumn & Spring to my 'in addition' maintence schedule. I kept the old one as I drilled the remains out, found a Stainless Steel nut & bolt that fitted, but now I know, hopefully won't need to use.
