Re: Touring boots for large calves?

Generally your boots need to fit to your leg and not have a trouser inside. This close fit reduces the risk of the boot being pulled off in a collision.

Re: Side Badges, Are they stickers or bolted in?

On an R1200RT LC (2014) the badge assembly is held onto the fairing panel by two screws. The rounded badges themselves are held in place by double sided tape.

Re: Best electrical accessory hub?

Not saying it’s the best, but it’s what I have had fitted for many years without any issues.

Engine and transmission oils, spark plugs and air filter change, along with fitting the Chinese ‘innov’ camera 👍

Re: DashCam

Just some pics for information. The cameras and mounting brackets are different from those shown on the web page. I’ve managed to attach one to a GoPro mount for the front, will work on the back one later.

I’ve just had one delivered today, I’ll bang some pics off tomorrow before I fit it 👍

Re: Sat Nav eject button sticking

Just returned from the annual euro trip, during which the sat nav release ‘arm’ broke, rendering me unable to remove the sat nav from the mount.

Once I’d disassembled the covers, I used a dremmel to cut slots into the bolts which allowed me to undo the nuts.
I then fashioned a 57x9x2mm piece of ...

Re: What did you do today?

Boring stuff really! Pulled the front wheel out for a tyre change then decided to do a brake service. Fronts were good, found a sticky piston on the rear which was sorted. Oils and filter tomorrow then all is good for Austria and Italy in 3 weeks 👍

Off a GS forum but may be similar! Edit: I checked my Haynes manual and you have to “remove the rear shock absorber left hand cover” to access it.

Re: Daytona boot repair

Let me know how you get on Steve. My job boots were always Altbergs and I needed a sole replacement on a very comfy pair but I believe they stopped repairing bike boots a while back due to a customer dispute. The current repair offering is for the walking style boots not motorcycle boots.

I’ve had both those issues on my 2014, but not at the same time. GS911 was my friend too 👍

Re: Exhaust Silencer

I have an Akra fitted an have for some time so I don’t really recall how much louder it is. I get a nice backfire pop every now and then when decelerating but don’t think overall it is too offensive. However, if you take the removable baffle out it is too loud for comfort.
