Re: 2007 BMW R1200RT WITH STICKING FRONT BRAKE LEVER

I had these symptoms on my K1200 and it turned out to be the brake hose deteriorating internally. Essentially little bits of rubber acting as a one way valve. Once changed and bled, all was good. Might be worth checking for sticky pistons first though as that's cheap and easy.

Re: Later version of the RT

I replaced my twin cam with an LC, and although it initially needed some fettling to be as comfortable (I'm over 6ft), I wouldn't change back. Although it's not night and day better, the overall package is just more refined.

Re: Poor heating of seats

Just a thought. I know of a case where a chap had 2 new seats under warranty. Then realised the cool cover he had fitted was the culprit. Whenever he took it to BMW he removed the cover of course. Erm......

Re: Poor heating of seats

Mine has the high seat and takes a good 10 mins on max to feel warm. It gets hotter and I can knock it down to 3 after about 20 mins.

Re: Has Santa been?

Carpuride 502b. Spent over an hour this evening trying to Connect everything to make it work. Eventually gave up and read the instructions. All good now, and I missed Call the Midwife as a bonus.

It's already reached the UK, I received my letter in November and had the shaft replaced this month as part of the annual service.

He currently has A2 but can now do his mod 1. The Deauville has a throttle stop restrictor. It looks like he's about to do a deal on a brand new V Strom 650, the numbers seem to work for him.

Re: Age profile of RT owners

My 22 year old youngest son would love an RT but insurance costs are preventing it. Instead he rides a 700 Deauville. The eldest is more typical and has a 2020 Suzuki Katana.

Re: GS, GSA VS RT

I totally agree that it depends what you want from your bike. My 1250GSA was an amazing bit of kit, and I like the adventure style, but an RT is like putting on a comfortable pair of slippers for me. For the price I got for the GSA, I bought a brand new V Strom 1050 with enough left for my 1200RT lc...

Re: Duration of RT Ownership

I've had my 1200 RTW for just over a year. It actually replaced a 1250GSA, which was fantastic, but a bit top heavy for a 50 something with a back problem. I also missed the barn door fairing as before that I had a 1200TC which I commuted and toured on, had that for about 4 years. I'm interested in ...

Re: 2020 Stock Horn is an embarrassment on this bike!

I added the 5 series horn and although the tone was lower, it didn't really sound any louder to me.
