Re: Dead...

Many li-ion batteries have a built-in battery management system (BMS) to prevent over charging/discharging. The BMS can tell you if there is an issue with the battery. I would track down the manual for the battery and look for clues there.

Got my 1250 back yesterday from the steelers after annual service ( the last they will see)...

My wife and I engage in several risky hobbies including SCUBA, motorcycles, and general aviation. We used to have our SCUBA gear inspected annually, until we got on a boat for a week only to find on ...

Re: Can you suggest a code reader

seems to work very well (as well as it should, costing 3.5x more)!!

I believe the price difference comes down to capability. Some might say the increased number of functions doesn't justify the difference, but you can do things with the GS-911 that can save you a lot of money. I live in the USA ...

No Loctite necessary with Nyloc. Loctite and Nyloc serve the same purpose (for the most part): to prevent a fastener backing off due to vibration. Depending on the variety used, Loctite will generally provide more security than Nyloc. There are versions of Loctite that are considered "permanent ...

Re: Can you suggest a code reader

If all you want is the ability to see trouble codes there are any number of options available. If you want to RESET trouble codes--and service reminders--you need the GS-11. Here in the US you can take your vehicle to any auto parts store and they'll connect a reader to scan trouble codes for free.

Just out of curiosity, what is your beef with Nylock? These are commonly used fasteners throughout the aerospace industry, providing excellent vibration resistance.

Here's another long shot: are you wearing polarizing sunglasses? LCD screens don't play well with polarized sunglasses.

As near as I can tell, he removed some parts and reassembled the pannier. Do the parts removed serve any purpose? What am I missing?

Re: TomTom Rider 550 vs. Garmin Zumo XT?

I used a Garmin Zumo for years on a previous bike; it's a solid product. I switched to a phone running Google maps, and I've not looked back since. I know you say a phone is not an option, but I would reconsider. With a bit of practice using voice commands you never need to touch the phone while ...

To add to Michel's post, it could be a bad clutch switch, or the switch/clutch lever may need adjustment.

Re: fuel tank vent

Seems like a lot of effort to get a few more ounces of fuel. I would just avoid topping off the tank.
